4 Raw, Oil Free, Vegan Salad Dressings to Step Up Your Greens!

vegan salad dressing

Lettuce face it, salad is boring. Sorry I just had to make that pun! But seriously, the majority of people don’t eat greens because lettuce tastes like..well…dirt. Someone had to say it. I’m lucky enough to be accustomed to their taste, and now LOVE all the greens. But for some, the only saving grace is salad dressing. Are you a ranch-aholic? Does salad often become caesar soup? BUSTED! Nothing to be ashamed of, you just love flavor. In order to keep the integrity of our greens AND have a super delicious dressing though, I’ve created four fresh variations made solely from raw fruit and veggies.

Before tackling the recipes, it’s important to understand the importance of making your own dressing. While some really healthful alternatives recently hit shelves, over 90% of conventional dressings contain highly processed oil. These include vegetable oil, canola oil, soybean oil, cottonseed oil, safflower oil, corn oil and peanut oil. STAY AWAY from these! Really! These oils are so industrialized they are almost always rancid. In addition, the extraction process usually involves heavy chemicals like hexane, which don’t completely separate from the final product. They will cause chaos in your body when eaten over time, so just stay clear. Sugar is the other culprit of store bought dressing. Corn syrup, maltodextrin, cane sugar, invert sugar and many other forms of sweetness have snaked their way into salad dressing. Ultimately spiking insulin, and nutrient absorption of those greens becomes slim to none.

Creating your own salad dressings lifts the vail of mystery ingredients. YOU can take control of your health and concoct delicious dressings that contribute to vitality. Get excited!

So what’s the catch? Nothing! You can use as much dressing as you want. Go ahead, drench it! You’ll be pleasantly surprised by all the flavors that can emerge from raw ingredients. These dressings are completely nut free, oil free and vinegar free. In fact, you could probably whip one up right now with the produce in your fridge. They’re sweet, savory, creamy and FULL of living enzymes and nutrients the body craves. Plus, all you need is a high powered blender. Simply place the ingredients in and blend till smooth!
